Snow and Ice Storm Shuts Down 2 Saskatchewan Refineries

Due to a severe cold snap (complete with Ice and Snow) - Consumer Co-Operative Refineries Limited was forced to shut down its 130,000 barrel-per-day Regina refinery today (Tuesday December 11, 2018) because of a widespread power outage.

Because of apparent power rationing - the facility is slowly heating up the units and hopes to begin restarting them this weekend.

Gibson Energy’s 15,000 barrel-per-day Moose Jaw asphalt refinery in Saskatchewan, which also was shut down in the wake of the storm, was restarted earlier today.
