Did you know that Husky has approximately $14 billion worth of projects in various stages of development going on right now?!?
At the old Calumet / Superior Refinery in Wisconsin that Husky bought in 2017, it continues to make progress on its $400 million rebuild to return it to operations. This was due to an explosion at the refinery in 2018. Demolition is still being done now and Husky plans to begin construction next month with an expected startup in 2021.
FYI – this refinery is the first US one along the route of the Enbridge Mainline shipping oil from Canada. It is ideally positioned to process crude feedstocks into high-demand products such as gasoline, diesel and asphalt for the US. Midwest market.
The project includes rebuilding the 38,000-BBL/d crude and vacuum unit by replacing column internals and increasing production capacity to 43,000 BBL/d. The 11,000-BBL/d fluid catalytic cracker unit also is being rebuilt. Jacobs is the EPC contractor.
Husky also has a number of Canadian projects coming online now and in the next few years, they include: the thermal Dee Valley and Spruce Lake Central Lloyd thermal bitumen projects, which are scheduled for startup in the fourth quarter of 2019 and in 2020. Site clearing has begun at the 10,000 bbls/day Spruce Lake North project, with first production expected around the end of 2020. Three additional 10,000 bbls/day thermal bitumen projects have been sanctioned in the area as well. The offshore West White Rose crude oil platform, located offshore Newfoundland and Labrador will also begin soon.
